2008-09 Youth Video Production Program at ACMI
Arlington Middleschool Producers (AMP)
Arlington Community Media Inc. announces its Arlington Middleschool Producers (AMP) program for 2008-09. Beginning October 2nd, Arlington school children who entered the 7th, 8th, or 9th grades this fall, were invited to register for a weekly video production program at Arlington Community Media, Inc. Sessions are held after school every Thursday from 2:45pm to 4:15pm. AMPsters plan and produce an in-studio production live-to-tape on alternate weeks. This will result in two programs per month that will be cablecast on ACMI’s education channel (Comcast 9, RCN 13, Verizon 24) for public viewing.

Emerging AMP producers will participate in ACMI's unique approach to initiating creative young people into the science and art of video production through the use of its state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at its 85 Park Avenue studio.
Learning activities will include an in-studio multi-camera workshop in which participants will explore studio production formats such as mock news and talk shows, will develop original scripts for them, and much more. The technical and creative skills being taught to AMP participants are highly marketable ones in this digital and video-conscious age.
ACMI membership is required by all participants. There is no fee for Arlington Public School Students. Others will be required to pay $20 for annual membership in ACMI. Enrollment is limited. Parents of interested students should come to ACMI to register their child in the program and to complete a registration/permission form. Registration for the current academic year was completed and closed on October 9th, 2008. Registration for the 2009-10 school year wil commence in June 2009.
